7th Annual Brenda’s Ride with Friends Raises Over $10,000!
Proceeds to Benefit LRGHealthcare’s Oncology Department
LACONIA, NH- On Saturday, August 15th, eleven-year breast cancer survivor Brenda Ganong hosted the 7th Annual Brenda’s Ride with Friends: Fighting Cancer One Mile at a Time. The day’s events, which included a motorcycle convoy from Meadowbrook to Waterville Valley, returning to Laconia Harley-Davidson for a cookout, raffles, and live music, was a huge success, raising over $10,000 for the LRGHealthcare’s Oncology Department!
The Ride started in 2003 with just 35 participants and has continued to grow with each passing year. Over 300 people attended the festivities this year including 140 riders! In addition to the hundreds of devoted riders and attendees, the event raised a record amount due to the very generous support of local businesses, individual donors, and volunteers.
Brenda explains why she donates proceeds to LRGH: “Having worked as a nurses’ aide for 15 years, I have spent time around a lot of different doctors and nurses. The caregivers in the LRGH Oncology Department are just a different breed—they are angels.” Brenda’s Ride also offers an opportunity for people to come together. Brenda reminds us that “Everyone has been affected by this disease and everyone has a story to tell. This annual event helps to raise awareness while reminding one another that we’re not alone in this battle.”
Accepting a check on behalf of LRGHealthcare, President and CEO Tom Clairmont adds, “We are grateful for the ongoing support from Brenda’s Ride. Today, every penny counts, and this generous donation to the Oncology Department will go a long way in helping us provide cutting-edge care to our community. In addition to raising awareness, people like John and Brenda Ganong and the hundreds of motorcycle enthusiasts who participated in this event are making a difference in the lives of cancer patients right here in our community.”
